Program Description and Benefits:
Everyone is talking about the Republican Congress repealing the Federal Estate Tax as part of the Trump Administration tax bill. And while there are no certainties in Washington, D.C., it is better to be prepared for change than to have it thrust upon you. Currently, the estate and gift tax exemption for 2017 is scheduled to be $5.49 million per individual. But what if there is no Estate Tax in 2017, 2018 or there is a phaseout over a few years? Then what? Charles “Skip” Fox IV will provide insights as to what planning still needs to be done if there is no estate tax planning to be done at all. And how to convince clients that change is the only constant.

Speaker Biography:
Skip is the former chair of McGuire Woods, LLC private wealth services team and current chair of the firm's tax practice. His extensive experience includes estate planning, estate and trust administration, and work with charitable organizations. He works with clients regarding planning for families with closely held businesses, including ownership succession issues; the use of family limited partnerships, limited liability companies, and other techniques to transfer wealth at significantly reduced transfer tax costs; and counseling on the appropriate uses of family offices. He lectures annually around the country at numerous seminars on estate planning and trust administration topics for banks, trust associations, estate planning councils, tax institutes, bar associations and other organizations, including the University of Miami Heckerling Estate Planning Institute and the Notre Dame Estate Planning Institute.
