Planning for the Tech Entrepreneur | Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney | 8:00 - 9:30 am
Program Description and Benefits:
Tech entrepreneurs frequently present unique challenges for estate planners, including hard-to-value assets, the tech market’s breakneck pace and a hesitancy to focus on transfer tax planning due to the entrepreneur’s age and family stage. In this session, we will examine ways of tackling these difficulties in order to remove appreciation in the value of intellectual property and tech business interests from an entrepreneur’s taxable estate, while also addressing such entrepreneur’s need for liquidity and fear of discouraging a future company sale or investment. Additionally, we will look at the mechanics of such a transfer, including the elements of an effective transfer of intellectual property and corporate and securities law issues to keep in mind.
